I realized a while back that I hadn't seen anyone else doing their eyes the same way that I do and have been thinking about making a tutorial. So, here it is ^_^

I'm sure there are a glaringly obvious mistakes that I have overlooked despite reading it over ad nauseum. Let me know if there's anything too bad, lol. Also it's my first time writing anything like this and I hope it's easy enough to understand.

If you want to see any examples of this eye type in action just poke around my gallery a little.

This tutorial is free for everyone to use, distribute, modify, etc.

If you do use this please post a link to the pics. I would love to see what you have done ^_^

Hmmmm... I'm having a problem with my embroidery thread, or more specifically my needle. You say to use the full six strands, but I can only fit a few in the needle's eye at a time. How do I get all of them in that tiny hole?

If you're using a smallish needle you may not be able to get that many strands through but there are a few things that might help.

Using sharp scissors to cut the threads at a bit of an angle might help some. Moistening the ends of the strands will help a lot (I'm definitely a thread-licker myself, lol). If you have one of those needle threaders with the little metal wire loops at the end that will always make things easier. Doubling the thread over will also give you twice as many strands for each stitch.

You wouldn't have to have the full width really anyway. More just means you'll be covering more ground each time.

That helped, thanks :) I'm almost done attaching them to the face, I'll try to send you a pic asap (but I can't find the cord that connects my camera to the computer, so it might be a while). The eyes really are the most crucial part of a plushie. They can either make or break all that hard work. Thanks so much for this tutorial!

You're very welcome. I'm glad I could help out. :)

I completely agree about the eyes being the most important thing. It's really the first thing that you focus on when you look at a pony plush.

I'd love to see a pic when you get one up.

I'll be sure to send you a link! I think the eyes turned out well, now I'm working on her cutie mark... I think I'll try doing it the same way. Should be up in a few weeks :) *fingers crossed*

Definitely going to use this for the plushie I'm making now! I just need to figure out how big to make the eyes... After that it should be easy :3
